Thanks to the generosity of our family and alumni communities and the support of the Vanderbilt Rec Center, our team is proud to have access to a dedicated on-campus training facility, a modern fleet of boats and training equipment and many kilometers of uninterrupted water on Percy Priest Lake.
Facilities
erg room
Vanderbilt Rowing's dedicated on-campus training space, located in the David Williams II Recreation and Wellness Center. Kitted out with 40 Concept 2 PM5 ergs with slides, five Concept 2 BikeErgs and two pair Swingulators, the erg room acts as a home on campus for our athletes as well as a chronicle of team honors and achievements.
Percy priest lake
Located 20 minutes from campus, Percy Priest offers virtually unlimited water, with enough space to practice uninterrupted 5ks in the fall and a buoyed 8-lane 2k course in the spring.
Our fleet of well-maintained Vespoli boats includes five eights, four coxed fours, eight pair/doubles and three singles.
The lake stays rowable all year round, and while we maintain a robust indoor training plan from November to February, we have been known to venture out as early as late January.
additional facilities
In addition to our reserved erg room space, our athletes also have access to Vanderbilt's excellent rec facilities. Always popular with our athletes is the rec's 14,000 square foot weight training facility, located right downstairs from our erg room. An indoor running track, practice courts and swimming facilities are all available for however you choose to cross train.
Adjacent to main campus, Centennial Park offers running paths with a view of the iconic Parthenon.
Students also have access to gym spaces at Alumni Lawn and the Commons Center (adjacent to freshman dorms).
